Debt of gratitude to Kelley Bernard, 10th grade English teacher, who read Ferlinghetti, Ginsberg, Corso, Frost, e.e. cummings, Blake among others out loud to his classes. And who encouraged my writing as well. The Oracle, published out of San Francisco, introduced me to Michael McClure's poetry from which I took the permission that poetry is a legitimate endeavor for a life. Met the poet David Gitin whose friendship these 35 years has demanded the best of my writing, no bullshit. I combined my crafts of printing and writing to publish my first book, Heart Shaped Blossoms, and became active in electronic publishing, i.e., frankshome.org:an active anthology of verse. My poem “Wild with Spring” won a prize in Quarry West 35/36: Poets and Writers of the Monterey Bay, edited by Ken Weisner, judged by Francisco X. Alarcón, in the Spring of 2000. I sit on the Board of Directors of POG, a Tucson non-profit that sponsors a Fall and Spring reading series. I'm also the webmaster for POG's two web sites, GoPOG.org and POG Sound. And I'm the sound technician for our readings, setting up the mics and amps, recording the readings and editing them to post and archive at POG Sound. Books: |
