Introduction

George Mattingly is a poet, graphic designer, publisher, teacher, father, husband and, well, he's just got the biggest laugh I've ever heard. He lives in Berkeley, CA, USA, where he operates G M D (George Mattingly Design). With the help of his wife Lucy, Blue Wind Press has published (among others) Ted Berrigan, Keith Abbott, Anselm Hollo, David Gitin, William S. Burroughs, Tom Clark, Darrell Gray and even George himself (Breathing Space, Blue Wind). And (whew!) George is concurrently teaching a publishing course, "PUBLISHING PROSODIA," the poetics journal of the graduate poetics program at New College of California .
